The old town library was set to close in two weeks, and twelve-year-old Nia couldn’t believe it. She had practically grown up among the dusty shelves and creaky floors. Every Saturday, she visited the library to read fantasy novels and sketch characters in her notebook.

One afternoon, as Nia explored the rarely visited second floor, she noticed a door slightly ajar. She had never seen it before. Curiosity won. She pushed it open and stepped into a small room with only a desk, a chair, and a thick book titled Echoes of Elmwood. When she opened the book, the air shifted. The room dimmed, and words began appearing on the blank pages—telling a story she hadn’t written.

“The girl with the blue notebook discovers the door… and steps into her destiny,” it read.

Nia’s breath caught. The book was about her. She flipped the page. More words appeared, describing how Nia would uncover a secret left behind by the library’s founder, Eleanor Whitby.

Suddenly, a soft creak echoed behind her. She turned, and a faint voice whispered, “Find the last story.”

Nia grabbed the book and dashed downstairs, her heart pounding. She didn’t know what the “last story” was—but she was going to find it, no matter what it took.
